Fantastic New Storage System or Childs Toy?

http://www.dezeen.com/2011/11/27/pin-pres-by-ooo-my-design/
This fabulously funky and fun new product introduced by Ooo My Design is based around the simple but clever system of sliding rods that can be adjusted when needed for storage of books, toys and any other small to medium sized products.

This type of simple but effective design is certainly on trend in this modern day in taking advantage of as much smaller and smaller spaces available to the modern family...especially with such a massivly increasing and already sized population.

Hopefully, similar designs to this can be inspired and make the lives of the modern family much easier.

XBOX 720 RUMOURS; TRUE OR NOT?

http://games.uk.msn.com/previews/xbox-rumours
http://xboxfreedom.com/xbox-720-game-console/

For a long time, a number of stories surrounding the release, the look and the idea of the Xbox 720 in the realms. In my opinion the release of this new Xbox console next year is a bit of a myth meaning the rekease date will be in the next few years rather than a year.

The only reason I have for this is because of the massive development needed to redesign the almost block type shape seen with the previous conseole. Creating a fresh new revolutionary shape will be required to beat competition (Playstation) in such a strict economy.

This however is just my initial opinion on such rumours...what is your opinion?

Sir Terrance Conran; An 80th celebration of the master!

Next year...a large number of influences in the design world will soon be celebrating the 80th birthday of UK designs ultimate master; Sir Terrance Conran.

The influence this true design guru has had on the design world from flat pack furniture to the look of the place we all call home has influenced the world on a hugely!

The question I have over this is how much more of an influence can this true master have on the world? Can any other budding designers, such as myself have any where near as much impact? There is certainly potential to do so with so many innovations developing every year...but will so many unique and innovative designs introduced each year cloud our view of true design?

There are so many answers need for these questions...the answers are likely to be answered in the next couple of years when the future of our economy hangs in the balance...we will see!

Post-Modern Architecture making an appearence...if we still call it that?

http://www.blueprintmagazine.co.uk/index.php/architecture/post-modernism-comes-of-age/

Post Modernism flourished in its day making it a very icon era...especially with design when reactions to the modernist opinion of objects having a pre-determined life.

As with this modern piece of architecture (Casa Da Musica in Porto)...not all objects have to be a predertimined solution but be seen as a number of solutions depending on the context that it is placed in.

Clearly...what ever we now see them as there is a clear trend in modern design and architectural culture to take huge inspiration from all previous decades. As with my previous post...print and pattern fashion have a massive interest in the very elaborate swirls, motifs and polka dots from a very popular era.

From this...I can see many other eras will be engaged upon in the coming year.

This is a great take of the classic government initiative to recycle and reuse with such a fabulous electronic wall.

This electronic wall, also know as 'Change it!' allows the owner to changer the colour, image and style at their leisure without the lengthy process of replacing your wallpaper.

Therefore this very economical and environmentally friendly product is very applicable to any home on the market!

What do you think?

PRINT AND PATTERN - autumn/winter 2011-12

http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/trends/2011-12-autumn-winter/print-and-pattern

Throughout the coming months we will be seeing a number of classic prints and patterns of past decades making a massive appearance. These print and patterns will include very elaborate swirls, motifs, polka dots and opulent winter florals. These styles clearly are a take on from past styles and eras of similar patterns which has become very popular among other past designs that have developed drastically throughout this current economic state the country is undergoing.

This huge attraction of drawing ideas and styles from previous decades does make for a very interesting collection of modern designs...some we adore and others we ignore!

LONDON 2012 INFLUENCE

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/nov/04/london-2012-olympics-posters-unveiled

Clearly...the whole country is engaged and excited about the London 2012 Olympics coming up!

Even the influence of the 2012 London Olympics has its artistic side with a huge number of posters created specifically for our Olympics.

Tracey Emin, Martin Creed and Chris Ofili among artists who are currently engaged and inspired in their work by the up and coming Olympics.

From this we can see the massive excitement for the Olympics throughout the country and can see every other industry of the UK getting involved which I can ask...how are you involved?

Architectual Symmetry

http://www.blueprintmagazine.co.uk/index.php/everything-else/maggies-centre-nottingham-czwg-and-paul-smith/

Fantastic bit of clean symetrical architecture in this recent development of Maggies Cancer Caring centre.

CZWG and Paul Smith both hugley involved the 11 month construction of the centre which pushes massively on huge spaces within a number of modern buildings.

With this...engaging the very natural piece of architecture with its surrounding enviroment makes for a very enviromentally friendly and generous building...especially with the green glazed tiles on a basement!
